Creel Cottage comfortably sleeps from 4 to 6 people. Our holiday cottage is fully centrally heated and boasts every modern luxury. Creel Cottage was originally a pair of fisherman's houses when it was built in the 17th century at the same time that Portsoy harbour was built. It sits at the bottom of a hill directly opposite the harbour pier from where the old boats once left to catch their trawl of herring.Today you will often find the creels stacked on the pier with the odd boat regularly bringing back lobsters. In keeping with its age our holiday Cottage is furnished with antiques including the French antique beds and Persian carpets, perhaps somewhat more luxurious than the fisherfolk were used to. Likewise the paintings on the wall are in keeping with its nautical past.
The Sitting Room
There are spectacular views of the Moray Firth from the lounge. The views are spectacular and constantly changing from calm blue seas to North Sea rollers crashing over the harbour walls. Thankfully the harbour affords protection from any stormy seas. You can sit back and enjoy the view from upper lounge display which at times can be magnificent. In the summer it is possible to swim in the harbour but look out for the harbour crabs which can be rather large! The lounge is comfortably furnished with a Chesterfield sofa which can convert to a sofa bed as required. There are a couple of antique reproduction chairs, an antique gate leg table. Because there are windows on all three sides of the lounge, the room is light and bright.
The Kitchen
The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas oven and stove, fridge/freezer, washing machine, microwave and toaster. The cupboards are well equipped with crockery, cutlery and pots and pans. Complimentary tea, coffee and sugar is provided. The large window to the side looks out onto the other harbour houses and gardens.
Bedroom 1
The Master bedroom is furnished with a King Sized antique French bed. There is hanging space provided in a closet.
The Bathroom
The bathroom is equipped with a toilet, sink and a bath with a shower over.
Bedroom 2
The second bedroom is a twin bedroom with two single antique French Twin Bedroom beds. The beds are made up with the finest Egyptian cotton sheets, double duvets and a mixture of feather and fibre pillows. A Victorian ewer and basin sits on top of the arts and crafts chest of drawers.
The Lounge
The lounge is situated on the lower floor and offers stunning views out across the quiet old harbour. Here you will find 2 comfortable sofas and a large LCD tv with freeview
